The Shakespeare retains much of its original architectural character but has also benefited over the years from sympathetic and careful modernisation. Behind its distinctive gabled façade, the hotel has 74 en suite rooms, including 3 four-poster rooms and 5 suites. Antique furnishings and period décor create a mood of relaxed elegance, while personal service and facilities combine to ensure guests want for nothing. The hotel is full of character, with oak beams, creaky floorboards and open fires. All of the rooms are named after the plays and characters of William Shakespeare. Every day, between 14:30 and 17:30, a choice of freshly-brewed teas, delicious sandwiches, tempting pastries and scones with jam and cream are served in the delightful surroundings of the newly refurbished lounge. |
