By Car (from the M6 motorway): - Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590, which then becomes the A591 to Windermere. - After approximately 16 miles (26 km), turn left into Windermere village, following the signs for Bowness and the lake. - Carry on through the village for approximately one mile (1.6 km), upon entering Bowness, you will find Lonsdale House on the right-hand side. Parking: The car park can be accessed by turning right into Bank Road, 20 metres past the hotel. By Train: A collection service from Windermere train station is available by arrangement. |

The hotel was originally built in 1851 as a private gentlemans residence; it first became a guest house in 1973. The current owners acquired the house in the winter of 2003 and immediately set about a quarter-of-a-million-pound refurbishment. Today, Lonsdale House offers comfortable, attractive and beautifully appointed accommodation, as well as a guest lounge and a well-stocked bar. |
