| The County of Dorset and Sherborne, its ancient capital, is rich in history, culture and interest - far too much to include in this brief introduction. Where could one start? Stonehenge? The New Forest? Our castles old and the new? built for Sir Walter Raleigh who found the old (even though a gift from his grateful Queen) a bit on the uncomfortable side. Our park, laid down by Capability Brown, and one of the loveliest you could wish to see... and our Cathedral, now an Abbey from when Sherborne was a city. We maintain a library of information for the use of our guests and any advice we can offer derived from our local knowledge and love of this beautiful part of the country is yours for the asking. | ||||

Take the a358 to Ilminster, follow this until you reach the a303, follow the signs to Andover/London on the a303 until you reach the a388 to Yeovil. Sherborne is then signposted from Yeovil via the a30. From the M25 take junction 12 (M3). Follow the M3 southbound until junction 8. Follow the A303 to Wincanton. Follow the A357 to Blandford Forum. Just after you pass underneath the A303, turn right onto the B3145 to Sherborne. Once in Sherborne follow the A30 towards Shaftesbury, you will pass the Fire Station on the right, then take the first right into North Road. Then at the crossroads straight on into St Swithins Road, to the end, turn left onto Long Street and the Eastbury is immediately on the right. | ||||

| The Eastbury, now an elegant hotel, was in Georgian days a private residence. Relax in our peaceful walled garden. Now a privately owned hotel. The Eastbury, now an elegant hotel, was in Georgian days a private residence. Its imposing facade is a noted landmark in the quiet, lower part of Old Sherborne, five minutes leisurely walk from the Abbey and the towns main shopping parade. Typical of a gentlemans residence of that period, the house is spacious light and comfortable. The Eastbury invites relaxation and enjoyment of the finer pleasures of life. The private rooms have been individually decorated and furnished and all have en suite facilities. With the comfort and enjoyment of our guests in mind, each bedroom has remote controlled colour TV offering terrestrial and satellite channels, direct dial telephone and luxury bathrobes. The reputation of our award winning restaurant goes far, far beyond Dorset but we take a particular pride that it also enjoys a strong local affection and regular patronage. Our style basically English, the finest, freshest local ingredients, well prepared and attentively served. Our seafood dishes are as equally highly regarded as our meat - which is somewhat exceptional in the restaurant world. The garden at the Eastbury is an absolute joy. Walled, south facing, an acre in extent with broad lawns and planted with shrubs, trees and hedges it is indeed a peaceful haven in a rushing world. On a fine Summer evening dinner on the terrace - memories are made of this. All our facilities are available all year round to ensure that your special occasion is really memorable. We offer facilities for business meetings, seminars, conferences and private celebrations of all kinds |
