The former Victorian ballroom now serves as the main restaurant, named after Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the famous Scottish artist and architect. The fine stained glass Art Deco windows, a feature of the magnificent panelled room, are attributed to him. Pictures of the rich and famous that have frequented the hotel over the years adorn the walls whilst the contemporary furnishings complement the many antiques and period pictures and paintings. The result is a comfortable blend of old and new, creating an atmosphere which is relaxed, informal and distinctive. Both the cuisine and surroundings are stylish and whilst simple fresh ingredients are preferred, the artistry that accompanies them produces a host of culinary delights.
