The precise age of Bonningtons is not known, however 1st records originate from the early 1600s, so it is likely that the house predates this by a few years indicating a very late 16th century or early 17th century property. It is now a grade II listed building with a number of key listed features. Records are not precise but at some stage the property was acquired by the Houblons Hallingbury estate. Bonningtons itself was reportedly the home of the estate manager. The estate itself also included Hatfield Forest. It was Jacob Houblon that created the current lake to be found in the centre of the forest, some time around 1740. Jacobs son further enhanced the estate and forest around 1770 with the consultation of the famous landscaper Capability Brown adding further exotic trees and some areas opened up to improve the views. The lake itself was also altered at this time. |

All rooms are located separate to the main dwelling in our converted barn/coach house (thus allowing complete privacy for guests). Each room has its own entrance/exit door with key to the outside, this allows for late arrivals and early morning departures, and trips to the local pub opposite. All rooms have full en suite facilities with a bathroom that contains a toilet, sink and either a bath or power shower. Towels are supplied. All rooms are and always have been fully non-smoking. All have an interconnected smoke detection/fire alarm system with emergency lighting to the same specifications as hotels. All rooms have soundproofing between rooms. This has been fully inspected and approved and again complies with the latest government regulations for sound transmission to the same standard as hotels. Dawn to dusk external lighting applies around the complete site, complying with the latest regulations on energy conservation, similarly all other lighting utilises low energy consumption. With self-controlled heating in all rooms, you can make yourself comfortable before making a tea or coffee and relaxing in front of the TV. |

Continental breakfast is available which can be taken at any time in our self service breakfast area. There is choice of cereals, bread or toast, preserves and marmalades, fresh orange juice (not from concentrate), yoghurt, pastries, fresh fruit, and tea or coffee Lunchtime and evening meals can be taken in the George pub located on the opposite side of the green around 75 metres away. |

Located on a village green, Bonningtons is adjacent to The George, a pub renowned locally for its quality and generous portions for lunchtime and evening meals. Only 3.2 km (2 miles) from Bishops Stortford station, Bonningtons also gives access to central London within 35 minutes. This also offers a connection to Cambridge in around 30 minutes. Only 10 minutes from Londons Stansted Airport. |

By Car: - Exit the M11 at junction 8. Make sure that you take the local exit (Bishops Stortford) not the A120 into the airport. - Take the B1256 exit from the M11 roundabout, signposted Takely. - After approximately 100 metres there is a petrol station on your left. Take the turning immediately opposite, signposted Great/Little Hallingbury. - Follow this country road for about 2.5 miles (around 5 minutes). - You will then come to a T-junction. Turn left onto the A1060 into Little Hallingbury. - After approximately 500 metres, the George pub will be on your left. - Take the small lane immediately to your right, this is Dell Lane. After 20 metres the hotel’s drive is on the right-hand side. |

This grade 2 listed building is set amid landscaped gardens, and is just 3 miles from London Stansted Airport. Adjacent to a country inn serving lunchtime and evening meals, this accommodation is convenient, comfortable and cosy. All rooms are located in our listed, converted barn, and are fully en suite; each room also has its own private entrance. Free station/airport transfers are available from 07:00 - 11:00, and from 16:00 - 21:00. Long term parking is also available. Continental breakfast is available at any time in our self service breakfast area. This is especially convenient for those guests that have early morning flights. A late check-in (after 23:00) can be offered (by prior arrangement). |

The transfer service operates either to/from the local railway station at Bishops Stortford or Stansted Airport. For a drop of in the morning the hours are between 07:00 and 11:00. After we open in the afternoon, we then offer a collection service which runs between 16:00 and 21:00. Please note that we do not operate multiple trips. For larger parties the maximum number that we can accommodate in our vehicle is 4 passengers. We do have a larger than average vehicle so we can usually accommodate snowboards etc. However it is best to mention and extraordinary requirements when booking so that we ensure that we operate our larger vehicle. Once you have collected your baggage and are ready for the collection/transfer you must call us by telephone and we will than agree the precise time and location with you. |

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged. Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome. All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding. There is no capacity for extra beds in the room. Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included. Service charge is included. City/tourist tax is included. Internet: Wireless internet is available in the hotel rooms and is free of charge. Meal Plan: Continental breakfast is included in the room rate. Parking: Private parking is possible on site (reservation is needed) and costs GBP 3.50 per day. Pets: Pets are allowed. No extra charges. The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival. |
