The Royal is a majestic, beautiful hotel dating back to 1837. A very friendly and warm welcome awaits you. Refurbishment work completed in December 2006 has given the building a new lease of life. The hotel is now access-friendly into the restaurant and bar. Being a grade ll listed building has created a few problems extending this to the bedrooms, but the hotel is working on it. The changes are fantastic, though in character. Come and enjoy the new ‘Riverview Bar’, and, as the name suggests, you can enjoy the magnificent views across the Wye Valley and river below. |

Make your way up the grand spiral stair case to our 42 en suite bedrooms. The rooms range from romantic feature rooms, with spectacular views to character-filled single rooms in the old stable block. Being a Grade II listed building, we have no lift, but the views are well worth the climb up the stairs. | |

We have 2 spectacular dining areas to satisfy most appetites. Barrett’s restaurant offers a formal dining experience amid chandeliers, table service, subdued lighting and soft music. Or, you can choose to relax and unwind in the Riverview bar, or on the terrace whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the River Wye and the surrounding hills and valley. Whichever setting you choose, our team of chefs will delight with their culinary skills. We serve good, honest pub food; that means all of your traditional favourites and a few new dishes. |

Tranquil or hair raising, we can do it all. When you are relaxed and unwound you are ready to explore Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding areas. Wander through Ross, less than 200 yards from the hotel and take in the history and beauty of the town. Venture out to Symonds Yat, Symonds Rock and the Forest of Dean which are local areas of natural beauty just 8 km/ 5 miles from our town. For those castle lovers, there’s Goodrich Castle, also about 8 km/ 5 miles away, and Eastnor Castle about 24.1 km/15 miles from the hotel. In addition to the tranquillity and serenity, we are perfectly poised to cater to your wilder side. The Wye River offers kayaking, rafting, and tubing. Whilst the spectacular cliff faces provide the perfect feature for the death-defying plunge as you abseil down to the magnificent River Wye. If this is not quite your scene, try the walking trails, cycling trails, hot air ballooning, golf, horse riding or a day at the races . |

Standing high above the horseshoe bend of the River Wye, our hotel enjoys some of the best views of the surrounding countryside. The Royal is a majestic grade II Georgian country hotel full of character, but with many modern amenities. It is situated at the top of the town next to St Marys Church, just a 2-minute walk from the centre. Standing high on the sandstone cliffs we have what is arguably the best view in the country, particularly when the sun sets over the river and valley below, whilst you relax on our terrace sipping a glass of wine or enjoying one of our fine ales. |

The Royal is a non-smoking Grade II listed building and as such has no lift. We are access-friendly on the ground floor, with ramps, automatic doors and disabled facilities. Pets are accepted in certain rooms by prior arrangement and a daily additional cost is payable on departure. |

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
